radio aporee ::: miniatures for mobiles (mfm) is a platform for augmented sound art projects in public space. Many works have been created during the last years, from art to story-telling, artistic documentation, and hybrid experimental formats.

The platforms concept is quite easy. A miniature for mobiles is created and organized by a web-based editing tool, and listened to with this app, while walking outside, at the site the piece has been created for.

In order to find sounds around you, the app utilizes your phones GPS and location services. When a sound is found, its loaded from the aporee server. For areas without network access, a true offline mode is available. For this to work, a sound piece must be synchronized before you start your walk, e.g. in your wifi network at home.

A miniature for mobiles is usually made for a small area, e.g. a neighbourhood, the next street corner, things in a walking distance.

While walking, sounds continuously change and fade along your path, depending on the piece, the listeners position, speed and direction. The sounds of a miniature naturally mix with the actual sounds of the environment, which may give a immersive listening experience and an intense sense of place. Open earphones recommended! And watch out for traffic!
